Vets issue new warning over deadly Alabama rot after beloved Labrador dies from the disease - are there cases in your area?- WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT
- Two new cases of Alabama rot, a disease that can kill dogs, have been reported
- A three-year-old golden Labrador from Berkshire has died from the disease
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...sease.html
- The article says that the first case of it in the US was in the 80s, in the UK, the first case was in 2012. That means that it is not native to our countries, which means something or someone brought it in either via another dog (probably from abroad) or something else. The retriever breeds are most prone to it.
- If caught early then treatment can be applied to the dog's kidneys but in four out of five cases help arrives too late. Concerned dog owners are advised to look out for skin sores or swelling on the dog's legs, which could be signs of Alabama rot.

If society fell apart, we - the people would build a new one. Most people are good at their core, and when we see things that are wrong we work to fix them together. Make friends with your neighbors, get involved with your community - because we will rebuild our lives, our communities, from horrible circumstances we always will.

The dog was depressed, so she got him a girlfriend, he was still depressed. So the dog trainer took the dog to her husbands family and left him for the weekend. The lab was has happy has could be. So she left the dog with her husbands dad where magic was happy.
We had a fabulous day at the beach yesterday, and then over the fields later on in the day. However, I think I walked too far yesterday, paying for it today.
We've just got back from the open field again today, lovely weather, blue skies and sunshine, although 20mph winds are still cold. Temperature is 11c.
PS Unfortunately, there are a lot of dog attacks being reported in the UK. One dog walker was killed, then this morning, a 4 year old child had been savaged at home. Very sad. I think dog insurance will be going up for some breeds in the UK.

Is YOUR dog at risk? Study reveals the breeds most likely to suffer from painful cranial cruciate ligament ruptures - with Rottweilers, Bichon Frise and West Highland top of the list- Royal Veterinary College has ranked the dogs most susceptible to the disease
- Factors affecting treatment included age, weight and the dog's insurance
- A study from the Royal Veterinary College's (RVC) VetCompass Programme looked at 1,000 dogs with CCL rupture cases and a random selection of 500,000 other dogs without the injury.
It revealed that Rottweilers were the dogs most at risk, being 3.66 times more likely to get the disease, with cockapoos being least at risk.
Most dogs see a gradual degeneration of the ligament, seeing a sudden onset of pain and lameness.
Other dogs at high risk of the ailment were Bichon Frise, who were 2.09 times more likely to get a rupture, West Highland White Terries, who were 1.80 times more likely to get a rupture, and Golden Retrievers, who were 1.69 times more likely to get a rupture.
Those at lowest risk of ruptures include Chihuahas, at 0.31 times, Shih-tzu at 0.41 times and German Shepherd Dogs, at 0.43 times.
- What is a cranial cruciate ligament rupture?
Cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) ruptures is one that affects both humans and dogs.
The CCL is an important ligament inside the knee joints of dogs which stops the knee bone moving in front of the thigh bone.
Rupture to the ligament can either happen progressively over time, weakening certain spots of the leg or can happen suddenly.
Symptoms of a CCL rupture include:
- Lameness in the hind limbs
- Knee joining pain
- Difficulty rising and jumping
- Occasional clicking noises

I think that's what happened to a dog that belongs to a woman that comes to dog class, first the dog had an operation on one leg, then last week, she said it had to be operated on the other leg. She said the Cocker Spaniel was 4 years old and the second leg went lame after doing its business. Personally, I think its a lot to do with food they're fed when they're puppies. We didn't have lame dogs before processed dry food came on the scene. Dogs used to eat human's left overs and tin food before dry food came along.

Where are their brains?
They adopted an American Bulldog six weeks ago. Then left a 4 year old in the garden with it.
The child has passed over and the dog was shot by police due to it.
Not just the parents either, why do rescues allow people with young children to take these types of dogs?

In the last two years, I've witnessed a lot of dogs that weren't socialised properly has puppies, big, medium and small. The first few months are formative like the formative years of a child that requires discipline.
When people get a dog from a rescue they usually don't know its history, or how it was treated and brought up has a puppy. Especially with big dogs it requires experienced dog handlers/trainers.
