“Battle Hymn of the REPUBLIC”.

It's called a "Constitutional Republic" for a reason.

Benjamin Franklin did NOT say “a democracy if you can keep it”. He said, famously, “a REPUBLIC if you can keep it“.

Quote:“The ideal of a constitutional republic is individual liberty. In this century, great strides have been made toward the goal of subverting our republic, and transforming it into a democracy. The foremost tactic of the subverters is subversion of “language” — by calling America a democracy, until people thoughtlessly accept the term, and use the term. Totalitarians have obscured the real meanings and principles of American government.” ~ Dan Smoot

In loose terms, a democracy is "mob rules."  Is the U.S.A. run by a mob?  Uh,................well..................?

If society fell apart, we - the people would build a new one. Most people are good at their core, and when we see things that are wrong we work to fix them together. Make friends with your neighbors, get involved with your community - because we will rebuild our lives, our communities, from horrible circumstances we always will.

Yours is the question of the decade.  Until our D.C. "representatives" start standing and speaking for the average citizen instead of the illegal immigrants, the petro and pharma lobbies, the military/industrial complex and all the other the lobbyists, we will continue to regress into a purely socialist nation.

Just ask the Greeks.

Well, if the Constitution brings us oligarchy, tyranny, socialism and worse, we have to accept that.

Or do we?

I'm not a constitutional scholar but I do think it was created to eschew all the above.

I have noticed that most politicians (mostly left wing) continually refer the the US as a " Democracy" and not a "Republic".
Why Johnny Ringo, you look like someone just walked over your grave ...
