After watching war movies this weekend I’m concerned the US won’t be able to repel attacks on our homeland. The Germans had large defenses along the coast of France yet the allies were able to storm ashore. Same for many of those South Pacific islands.
What have we got that will prevent attacks on east, west, and southern coasts?
Do we depend on our air defenses that will be stretched thin?
Americans have lots of guns but will they hold up against trained invaders with artillery and automatic weapons?
Maybe the National Guard will issue us hand grenades and bazookas if things get bad.
Just think of a couple million Chinese coming ashore after all the missile attacks.
Maybe I’m just paranoid.

It is an interesting question to ponder!
I would say that the biggest problem for the US is the insistence of projecting force globally to force the rest of the world to bend to our will. A part of that downside is that so much has been invested in support infrastructure far from our shores, but the upside is we have developed deployment capabilities that are second to none.
I do think that both the desire for mobility and the usual technological advantages versus adversaries has led to the US being overly dependent on naval & air power. Hypersonic missiles could be game changing to neutralize aircraft carriers & ships since the US does not have that offensive or defensive capability yet, though air power could be a decisive advantage.
Seeing the conflict in Ukraine has been eye opening! The continental warfare that has more of a resemblance to WW2 or even WW1 with trench warfare & artillery has me wondering how capable the US would be in that style of ground & pound engagements if air superiority is taken off the table.
I don't think a D Day style landing is a serious consideration for a mass movement of troops & equipment on the west coast as the shoreline is either rocks & cliffs or beaches that are fully exposed to open ocean leaving the surf too treacherous for any kind of large scale landings. It would take unusually calm seas for any such effort to stand a successful rate of landing.
I would think a west coast invasion would come thought the ports which would have to be captured & secured by smaller initial expeditionary forces in LA, San Fran or Seattle. Most other ports are too small to be effective and/or have hazards of their own like difficult bar crossings.

Maybe I’m just paranoid. I doubt an enemy to the U.S. would attempt to invade on land........................................
Until AFTER an atmospheric nuclear EMP device had been detonated.
My mind, a field of battles, struggles for peace in a tight place.

We don't need foreign troops to invade. The Demonrats stole an election so it wasn't necessary. They allowed the Chinese to buy land around critical military facilities.

How would the millions of Chinese get to our shores? They don't have the boats to get here en masse. They could launch a nuclear attack, but so could we. There is only 1 blue water navy on earth, and that's our own. If we were somehow invaded by an aggressive force, people over look the fact that close to 50% of the worlds guns are held by former soldiers/veterans who were trained in guerilla warfare and how to take apart roadside bombs over the past 22 years, their family members and other civilians. I just don't see it happening. We could be attacked, but I don't think it would be a d day type of attack with boots on the ground.
Not to change the subject, but that's one reason the enemy within wants to disarm us. makes us a lot easier to invade with a military that is constantly stretched to thin.

I think you are very correct sir. The Democrats don't care if Trump wins in 2024. They already have us by the nuts.
Now is the time to get out of the trenches
