Decided to do a little shooting with the desert eagles today and noticed something. I have 3 0f them, all in 50ae. All 3 are mark xix models, one of them being an older one made in Israel, while the other 2 are both made in America within the past 3 years and one of those has the integral muzzle brake. All 3 function well and 2 of them are accurate, one of them can hold 2 inch groups out to 50 yards. What I can't figure out is that 1 of them shoots low, very low, at 20 foot it shoots a foot lower than point of aim. The inside of the barrel looks good to the eyeball, the gun is only a year old so it is an enigma to me. I guess it is a pandemic qc barrel, back when nothing went to waste "if it seats, it yeets" so to speak.

Guess I'll have to spend 500 bucks when I get back right to make it be able to hit the broad side of a barn.

Been wanting to get one for a while now. Is the ported version worth it, or does it not really make much difference?

It greatly affects recoil and is worth it. It reduces felt recoil and reduces muzzle flip a lot. Makes follow up shots a hell of a lot easier. I've read that you lose a little bit of velocity but easier aiming and half the recoil is worth the trade off.

It does make an already loud gun that much more so but as long as you have ear pro it's all good. The gun with the 2 inch group at 50 yards was achieved with the ported barrel.

I saw an ad in American Handgunner today for the M&P 2.0 metal pistol. I have the regular M&P 2.0 compact polymer and like it. Maybe the gun range will have one soon so I can try it out.
