I got one for the kids for black friday 2021 for $14.99 last year, the one I got the handle is not heat proof, so you have to lay it on the stove with the handle out away from heat

this past Christmas they got an Oregon Trail stainless steel Percolator, 1940's style from me

so they can make waffles and coffee sans the grid, plus a #10 gallon size of dried hash browns and cans of beef hash, sausage gravy

I decided to go a different route for myself, my Black Friday treat was a camp sandwich maker, long handle more for a campfire or firepit cooking

mine is cast iron, steel rod that screws in with wooden handle on the end that I stained and sealed a nice dark maple

you can use it for waffles but its messy, must be thick batter or leaks out when turned

works better for grilled cheese, simple turnover pies

there are some on ebay but you have to enter a vast array of search terms to find all on offer

I still miss my cast iron stove the most. Esp when I smell neighbors running their fireplaces via chimneys

most everything else about home ownership was a pain in the ass, gutters, storm windows, mowing, shoveling snow

Summer of 1981 i had a 79 Couger xr7 and was at a drive in movie with a high school crush ... it had a 8 track and am radio ... the battery went dead ... the movie was not very good ... i went to get some hotdogs came back and she was gone ... the other guy had FM and a better battery

Yes she did ... we have two grown children today together and a third from her previous marriage ...a girl that was 2 years old when her father died ...It is with a very nosey and want to do things kind of children we raised ... what more could more an ugly opinionated dam the rules kind of person to want ... there is a FM radio and some other technology today... the mother and I fell apart i spent a great deal of my time away from home... everyone was lonely ... Great thing is all 3 kids and i have teamed up again to tackle a placer mine... and we got some bloody good mining folks working with us...life isn't easy and you never know how it will turn out

After looking at all the cast iron ( I have some but still crave more, lol)

I went with copper Swiss fondue set with the little candle stanchion for tabletop cooking with tealights (you need several)

grilling is fine except when it rains, so this was a backup plan investment for the proverbial rainy day to cook indoors

Ish has the right idea with that breakfast of champions clip

and have watched many of the Early American channel cooking youtubes for tips and pointers on hearth cooking

every culture has a form of cast iron cookware, Belgian waffles, Italian Pizzole cookie makers (very thin!) Norwegian stovetop cookers

this stuff used to get dumped by kids at estate sales and boxloads to Sal Army, best places to poke and find treasures

the big percolators have made a comeback as chuckwagon cooking, "cowboy coffee" youtube tutorials
