My older half sister is being taken off life support today, she was found at home by a neighbor and was resuscitated, but she was without oxygen too long.

Very sad to read this. Sending prayers of comfort to you and your family. 

And you are right ... it is important to stay in contact with people you care about. 

During the past couple of years, many of us were so self-absorbed it was easy to forget that a simple phone call, a letter, just contact in some way is very important and can brighten someone's day. And be especially conscientious for those who live alone. 24 hours can make a big difference.
